The medical care of trauma patients demands fast thinking and accurate, up-to-date resources. And there is no more reliable resource for trauma information than the American College of Surgeons (ACS). This app was developed alongside their seminal course, Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). ATLS has trained more than 1.5 million participants in more than 75,000 courses around the world.

ATLS provides the essential information and skills for doctors, nurses, and other health professionals to identify and treat life-threatening injuries under the extreme pressures of the trauma environment. The international nature of the program means that the content is adaptable to a variety of geographic, economic, social, and medical practice situations.

Whether in a hospital trauma bay, on the highway at a motor vehicle crash, in a disaster area after a bombing, or in a foreign country’s war zone, clinicians need ready access to critical resources and references. The content and skills presented in this app will add to the armamentarium of doctors and other clinicians who treat trauma patients.

The app includes a free preview of the 1st chapter.

Additional content can be purchased to instantly gain full access to the following:
• Interactive visuals, such as treatment algorithms and x-ray identification
• Just in Time video segments capturing key skills in minutes
• Calculators, such as pediatric burn calculator and the Parkland Formula to determine fluid administration
• Animations, such as airway management and surgical cricothyroidotomy

For those who have purchased the 9th edition of the ATLS Student Course Manual, simply enter the book code that was packaged in the book to gain free access to all the content.

Pros and cons of MyATLS app for iPhone and iPad

MyATLS app good for

ATLS seemed very long ago on the first day of trauma team. Great refresher and well designed app.
I have been an ATLS instructor for years and each time I teach I review the materials. Although this app is a great adjunct I wonder why the entire ATLS manual is not included. I think this would help students to have more chances to get through the entire book and review more frequently and subsequently increase the students chances of passing the course. The book is a great reference as well for any health care provider who takes care of trauma patients.
A versão completa do aplicativo para Ipad vale o investimento. Tem conteúdo interativo, vídeos e animações abordando todos capítulos do programa. Sou professor universitário e instrutor do curso ATLS no Brasil e tenho usado a ferramenta como recurso multimídia no ensino. Luciano Eifler The full app for Ipad worth the investment. It has interactive content, videos and animations covering all chapters of the program. I am a university lecturer and ATLS instructor in Brazil and have used the tool as a multimedia resource in teaching.
Very handy and helpful. However, primary survey video and links for course listings not working.
Love the quick videos and concise descriptions. Great way to prep for the course or refresh as needed!

Some bad moments

The code in the ATLS book I purchased for the free app didnt work, nor did it work for any of the 32 other people in the ATLS course I am taking. I bit the bullet and paid the $10 anyway because a friend recommended it, only to find that none of the videos contained sound! This seems to be a common theme based on the reviews... The chapters tab seems woefully simplified to even pass the course exam. On the plus side, the resources tab does seem to have some good info for both life and the exam. Its painful I know, but I might just have to read the book, pass the course and then re-learn/remember everything in practice. Grrr. I really had higher hopes for this.
Needs to be much more complete and needs to mirror the content of the manual. Lots more video presentations of scenarios would be useful.
Downloading the app i was looking for a pocket atls guide with all the key content but this app is far from that!! It should focus more on the management of trauma patients with algorithms or rules instead of giving chapter summary and unuseful videos.
The videos dont work, the information is not what you need and I feel like it was a WASTE OF 10 bucks. Shame on the developers for such a crappy product!
Very informative! The simple design made it easy for me to find content relevant to my learning. I appreciate the layout of topics to navigate.
Great app if you are taking the course but its great for anyone since this makes it easier to deal with a situation you havent dealt with before.
